4/5 Major Religions

Now that we have learned the first of 2 major religions, today we learned the next two. These included Hinduism and Buddism.
Hinduism has 1.1 billion followers. They call themselves Hindus. They are mainly located in India and also Nepal. Their holy book is the Vedas. The Vedas is composed of verses that are meant to be sung. These verses are filled with Eternal truths. There is no distinct founder because Hinduism may be the oldest religion out there. It may also be more of a way of life.

Buddhism is the second religion we learned about today. There are 500 million to 1.5 billion adherents in Buddhism. They are generally located in Southeast Asia, China, Nepal, and Japan. The founder is Siddharta Gautama. He found that there are 4 noble truths. These include: There is suffering, attachment to desire is the origin of suffering, there is a cessation to suffering, and the cessation to suffering is the eightfold path. The eightfold path includes right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right dedication.
