Judaism

Today went finally went over the final 5th major religion. This religion was Judaism and there are 14-18 adherents. They are called Jews. They are located in Israel. The Jewish founder is Abraham. The Talmud and the Torah are their holy books. They believe in ethical monotheism. Ethical monotheism is when they believe there is one god and he is concerned for people of the human kind. They also believe in the ten commandments and the 13 principles of faith.

Presentation Day

Today we looked at the Syria Refuges Presentations. I thought my group’s presentation went well. We didn’t get too many hard questions and the presenters were nice and clear. The other groups did well too. The one flaw that I continuously saw was the idea of sending undercover agents into ISIS. I think that ISIS would definitely use background checks. Why would they risk people from the inside destroy them. When they figure out the US in onto them, they will only conduct more attacks on us, and that is not a good thing.

How can we help Syrian Refugees?

One possible way to stop ISIS is to help the cyber group Anonymous. They are launching attacks against ISIS trying to stop their websites and root out people. We could also try and root out all of ISIS’ funding by finding all of their websites and “shell” corporations. If they lose funding they will be less powerful and more likely to slip up and be easier to stop. Little by little they are gaining more people by internet so if we use cyber attacks we can shut down their websites stopping them in their tracks.

Another way to attack ISIS is to attack them on the dark web or deep web. Because of the group  Anonymous ISIS is moving their propaganda websites to the deep web, which few people have access to. The deep web is used mainly for illegal purposes and we should try to shut down this website. Shutting it down will help take down ISIS and bring down their recruiting.

Another strategy which ties in with the cyber group Anonymous to destroy ISIS is to use cyberwarfare, which is the actions of a nation or state to penetrate another nation’s computers or networks to cause disruption or damage. By doing this, we can get vital information about ISIS and receive the names of people in it, where all of them are located, and what terrorism the organization is planning next. We could also make a denial-of-service attack so they can’t send out any messages online or build more websites to recruit people because their internet and computers would be broken.

I believe the only way to protect and save Syrian Refugees is to stop ISIS

"Save the Children"

After watching the “Save the Children” Syria video for the 15 billionth time, I am still extremely saddened.
Well first all the quality was extremely good. I know it’s weird to say but the quality of the video tells a huge story. Even the smallest thing, like a sign that says “leave, danger” can tell so much for so little on the screen.

I think after watching it after a few times it can get to you even more, or it can’t phase you. A few months ago I found this video while scrolling through facebook and it was not what I thought it would be. The main thing to know is that there are people in need and we can help a little bit at a time. That little bit may cause a huge difference for that one person.

Love to France

On Friday the 13, 2015 Paris was under attack. A sick terrorist attack killed a large amount of people and many more were injured? I have come to the total conclusion. That the world is a sick place and there is nothing we can really do to stop it. I know it sounds negative but all we can do is to put the inevitable on delay. I know what you’re thinking, wow Angela that’s really grim is this really the girl who brings Girl Scout cookies to my class every day? Well first of all, I can’t do that anymore and secondly, yes it is.

In total I would like to send my condolences to all of those in France through the power of the internet.

Religions and Babies

In class today with the absence of Mr. Schick we watched a video on religion and babies. The video mainly talked about how/if the growth of population was effected by religion. The answer is no. religion has no effect on population growth. I also learned that at 10 billion population growth will subside because the world will reach the maximum growth point.
How do I feel about the chart? Well, you see to be honest I am so confused. It was a neat chart but the amount of information in it was pretty cool. I liked the color coordination and the different setting you can use to find information easier.

This video made me a little bit excited for the life I will be going into. I find it exciting I will be moving on into the larger circle of life.

4/5 Major Religions

Now that we have learned the first of 2 major religions, today we learned the next two. These included Hinduism and Buddism.
Hinduism has 1.1 billion followers. They call themselves Hindus. They are mainly located in India and also Nepal. Their holy book is the Vedas. The Vedas is composed of verses that are meant to be sung. These verses are filled with Eternal truths. There is no distinct founder because Hinduism may be the oldest religion out there. It may also be more of a way of life.

Buddhism is the second religion we learned about today. There are 500 million to 1.5 billion adherents in Buddhism. They are generally located in Southeast Asia, China, Nepal, and Japan. The founder is Siddharta Gautama. He found that there are 4 noble truths. These include: There is suffering, attachment to desire is the origin of suffering, there is a cessation to suffering, and the cessation to suffering is the eightfold path. The eightfold path includes right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right dedication.

2/5 Major Religions

Cultural geography encompasses things such as language, food, religion and etc. in class we learned about 2 of the 5 major religions.
One of these religions was Christianity. There are about 2.2 billion adherents. Some of these denominations include Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church, protestant, and etc. The founder of Catholicism was Jesus Christ and the holy book is the Bible/ New Testament. They believe Jesus is the son of God and he died, was crucified, and then resurrected. The clergy is the Pope and local priests.
The religion of Islam was the second religion we learned about. The number of adherents is about 1.5 billion. They are located mainly in the Middle East, Indonesia, and North Africa. The denominations include Sunnis (75-90%) and Shiites (10-20%). The founder was Muhammad (570-632). Their holy book was Qur’an. They believe in one god, Allah, and the 5 pillars, testimony, prayer, alm -giving, fasting, and pilgrimage.

An important question that came up today was how does one prove the existence of God? This made me start thinking because you know the thing is you simply cannot. All you have to do is believe. Not all things have to be proven to believe in them. I think people have to understand that logic is not always part of belief, simply trust in what you want to believe in.

Test Talk 3.5: Let the fiesta BEGIN

Well, today one Mr. Schick came late. I will forgive and forget because everyone has bad days. While he was gone I ate a bite of a hot pocket, we talked about ice cream and I started by a fiesta. By starting a fiesta I mean I ate some chips and salsa. They were pretty good.
The test went pretty good, got me an 80. I’m impressed, good job meeeeee! Especially because we will be getting a few extra points due to a small mistake.

For now all there is to do is continue the fiesta!

Test Talk 3: A Poem by Angela

Today we took a test, and I pray now that I did my best. I studied well, and took some guesses but doing well was my real quest-es. I did, although, feel truly blessed, because Schick let me eat (my cookies) what were not lemon zest. But mint instead, I ate them quick. Right now I hope they do not make my tummy sick.

Onto this test, it was not hard. I do believe I did sub-par. Thirty questions, multiple choice too. I finished them as I chewed. Now that my test is through , I will, right now, bid thee adieu.

Complaining with Angela...

Today I am simply going to talk about my opinion on tests, since we will be given a test on Thursday.
I don’t like tests, as I have already stated previously. I don’t think that anyone actually like being given tests. They are stressful and time consuming.

I think we should be given a date for the test, and then leave it at that. The only thing worse than being given a test, is studying for said test and then not having it. I HATE when teachers do that! Give us one date and don’t change it. Even though a delayed test can be nice, it is also a disappointment. You have been warned… *creepily backs away*
